West egg represents the corrupt american dream. ‘I didn’t hear it. I imagined it. A lot of these newly rich
people are just big bootleggers, you know.’
West Egg represents the corrupt american dream because of how the people that live there got their wealth. West Egg is where people live when they have new money ( Money they have got themselves). This may seem fair however this is not the case. As the quote above states, a lot of the people that live in West Egg have made their money illegally by bootlegging. Because the people that live in West Egg have made their money illegally they did not work hard. This means that the american dream must be corrupt. An example of this is Gatsby. He made his money by bootlegging and this means that he is corrupt and the american dream is corrupt.
You need to make sure that any statements you make are supported.
When you talk about the fact that the American dream must be corrupt because no one in West Egg made their money legally, what do you mean? Why would this mean the dream is a corrupt one?
Remember to explain this to your readers- some of them might not have heard of the American Dream.
